Arbor Day Celebration and Friends of New Echota

New Echota Historic Site - Calhoun, GA
Join New Echota and celebrate Arbor Day with a guided tree walk at 10AM discussing historic uses and importance of local tree species, followed by papermaking and kid's crafts activities! The Friends of New Echota volunteer group will also be hosting a meet and greet to discuss how you can help preserve Georgia's nature and history! $6-$8 for admission. 706-624-1321.

Bark Basket Crafting Class

Join primitive skills demonstrator Andrew Lee for an ages 12+, hands-on, outdoor class, and learn how to craft your own traditional folded bark basket! Please bring a sack lunch, as a period for lunch will be provided. Participants will be outdoors and working with sharp objects, and all minors must be accompanied by an adult at all times. $75 per attendee. 706-624-1321.

From 10AM to 12PM visitors will have a chance to learn about the Archaeology of New Echota, see tools and techniques that Archaeologists use to preserve the past, and participate in dig box activities.
