Sharktooth Sandbar Paddle

Fort McAllister State Park - Richmond Hill, GA
Join our rangers on a sunny and refreshing canoe paddle that's fun for the whole family! We'll be having some fun in the sun as we run around and enjoy the afternoon among the salt marshes. A great time to hunt for shark's teeth! Participants are allowed to bring their own kayaks and canoes, but Park Office must be notified before the event. $20 plus $5 parking. 912-727-2339.

We'll be searching for local plants that have medicinal properties, some used for tea, seasonings, and even ones that could be poisonous! Spinning Wool

Whether you're a long time enthusiast or a first time hand-spinner, come on by and see the different aspects of wool spinning. Learn how wool is spun, what soldiers used it for, and much more. This program will take place inside our barracks house, and guests will be able to examine many of the other tools used by civilians of the Antebellum era. $5-$9. 912-727-2339.
Civil War Medicine
Saturday 1 PM - 3 PM – Nov 25, 2017 
Fort McAllister State Park - Richmond Hill, GA
Learn about some of the many tonics and remedies that doctors and surgeons of the past used to heal ailments and injuries during the Civil War. Our rangers will be using a period correct doctors pack and showing examples of the way surgeons performed amputations, and the medicines used by doctors to treat anything from a toothaches to snake bites! $5-$9. 912-727-2339.
