Annual Winter Muster: 155th Anniversary

Fort McAllister State Park - Richmond Hill, GA
This annual tactical demonstration commemorates the siege of the fort, the last battle of General Sherman’s March to the Sea. Cannon and musket firings, skirmishes, and drills will take place throughout the day. Visitors should arrive no later than 4 pm for the Final Assault at 5 pm. TICKET SALES END AT 4:30 PM. $10 per person, Ages 2 & under free $10. 912-727-2339.

The story of rice cultivation begins with the founding of the colony of Georgia in 1733, and was the regions largest economic export up until the American Civil War. Cannon Ball Crater Hike

Some of the largest weapons of the civil war were naval artillery pieces known as Dahlgren guns. This ranger led hike explores an area of the park where these weapons have left numerous craters. This is a bushwhackers hike off of our trail system. Please where appropriate shoes and clothing for traversing natural areas. $2 plus $5 parking. 912-727-2339.

Soldier Saturday

The fort's plantation house will be open and ready to be explored. An interpretive ranger portraying a Civil War soldier will entertain topics of conversation ranging from fort history to Civil War medicine. This program is included with fort admission. 912-727-2339.

Magnolia Hike

Walk with our naturalist on our Magnolia Trail and observe salt marshes, Red Bird Creek, and a fresh water pond. The entire hike will be about 3 miles long. Pets are welcome but must be kept on a 6ft leash. $2 plus $5 parking. 912-727-2339.
