Historic New Manchester Mill History Hike

Sweetwater Creek State Park - Lithia Springs, GA
This hike follows Sweetwater Creek down to the historic five-story Civil War era New Manchester mill with a Park Ranger. We will go inside the mill, as see in the "Hunger Games" film, is situated alongside the lovely rapids (up to class IV+) of the creek. This walking tour requires a moderate mile-long hike (total) down to the mill and back. $5 plus $5 parking. 770-732-5871.
Eastside Skyline Hike

Sweetwater Creek State Park - Lithia Springs, GA
This ranger-led hike will take us to the beautiful east side of the park and will focus on both nature and history. Sturdy, closed toe shoes are required on this moderate to strenuous 2 mile hike. Lakeside Viewing of the Supermoon Blood Moon

Join as at the lake to view the glory of this spectacular event. With clear skies we will witness a full hour of total lunar eclipse as this Super Blood Moon and Total Lunar eclipse coincide. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service Volunteer Work Day

Sweetwater Creek State Park - Lithia Springs, GA
Join park staff and volunteers on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day as we maintain the park's beautiful trails and pick up trash around the lake as well as helping with various other projects. Although gloves and some tools will be provided, please bring hand pruners and loppers if possible and sturdy, closed toe shoes,and water. Registration encouraged. $5 parking. 770-732-5871.
Children's Nature Hike

Winter Tree Identification Walk

Ever wonder what all those incredible trees on the park trails are? This 1.5-mile ranger-led hike will cover identification by bark and habitats(what trees tend to grow near water, or on ridges, for example), and sorting out the leaves that are still left on the ground. Bring your four-legged hiking companion and join a ranger on our 1 and a half mile Red Trail and White Trail Combo. Dogs must be leashed at all times. We’ll explore areas of whitewater rapids (up to class IV) and see the ruins of the Civil War-era New Manchester Mill, as seen in Hunger Games. Register in advance. $5 plus $5 parking. 770-732-5871.
