Piedmont Forest Hike

Sweetwater Creek State Park - Lithia Springs, GA
Join a park ranger for a hike through our beautiful Piedmont forest as we identify the trees and flowers and discuss the animals, reptiles, and birds along the way to a tour of the inside of the New Manchester mill alongside the magnificent rapids of Sweetwater Creek. $5 plus $5 parking. 770-732-5871.
Ranger-led Lake Paddle

Sweetwater Creek State Park - Lithia Springs, GA
Join us for a ranger-led, peaceful outing through the tunnel and out on the lake. Highlights of this trip are visiting a beaver pond and dam and observing the eagles, ospreys, and herons. For those 18 years or older who can swim or children 6 years or older who can swim and are accompanied by an adult. Meet at the Bait Shop. Register in advance. $20 includes canoe or tandem kayak, PFD, and paddle. $5 parking. 770-732-5871.

This mile long, moderate hike will take us down to the scenic highlights of the park where we will leisurely sketch and/or photograph the ruins of the New Manchester mill, the beauty of Sweetwater Creek, and the rapids. Join us for a short interpretive hike through our beautiful Piedmont forest where we will then sit to listen to a short lecture about writing and sketching.
