Garden for Good - Your State Parks Day

 This event has already occurred.

Status: Archived
In honor of the life-enriching relationship between communities and their local parks, free admission and tours will be given to all who participate in our outdoor volunteer activities. We will be putting our historical gardens to rest for the winter. So bring your trowel, gloves, and a sun hat and get ready for some great gardening.

It’s time for ‘Your State Parks Day’ here at The Chief Vann House, a day to reflect on the life-enriching relationship between communities and their local parks. Preserving places of historical significance such as the Vann House helps to strengthen our American heritage and teach our children about their past.

Activities will include picking up fallen limbs, trimming hedges, weeding, cutting down wilting plants, saving and labeling seeds, and hauling off the plant waste.

We have some gloves and tools to loan out but BYOT (Bring Your Own Trowel). Stay as long as you like to help us keep this historic home as beautiful as the year it was built.

Along with free admission for members of the public who choose to help in the gardens, the Vann House has additional volunteers and staff coming out today to enhance your visit and answer all your questions about our indoor and outdoor exhibits and museum.

Activities are outdoors and weather permitting.

Regular admission tours will continue as usual from 9:00 a.m.-4:15 p.m.
