Flotilla important information-
Arrive to the boat ramp at 11am to sign in and put the final touches on your raft. Rafts will be inspected to ensure safety before the start of the race. We will launch at 12pm for pre-race raft activities. The race will start at 12:30pm from the Boat Ramp. Participants will make their way from the starting point to the finish line (the beach).
The approximate duration of the race is from 12:30pm- 2:30pm. Raft games will take place in the water until all watercrafts have finished the course. Chick Fil-A sandwiches will be provided for post-race sustenance. The awards ceremony will take place shortly after the conclusion of the race at group shelter 3. Prizes will be given for fastest and most creative rafts. Following the awards everyone is encouraged to stay and play lawn games on the beach.
Creating your raft-
Rafts can be built from various materials including- scrap wood, foam, barrels, plastic buckets, and recycled materials. Harness your creative juices and take whatever is around you and recycle it into something that floats. Rafts are as varied as the imagination can conceive them!
**Upcycling takes by-products and waste materials and converts them into useful materials (like rafts). You can make a positive impact on the environment by removing items from the garbage path and using your creativity to make your own masterpiece. Upcycle projects are as small as making decorations out of old cloth to building a house out of milk cartons. Be part of this environmentally friendly movement by creating an upcycled raft!
