Archaeology Day at the Vann House

Saturday, May 15, 2021 (10 AM to 4 PM)

Need a fun way to teach your kids about archaeology? Take part in Archaeology themed activities at the Vann House. Kids can discover "artifacts" in our dig-boxes, learn more about ancient pottery by creating pottery of their own, see actual Vann House historic artifacts, talk to archaeologists, see stone blades being knapped, and more.

All activities are included in admission, $5.50-6.50. Activities are outdoors and weather permitting. Don't forget to tour the Vann House, self-guided with local Friends volunteers available to answer all your questions. There is not currently any professional archaeology taking place at the Vann House, and no site digging will take place. Kids can discover their own "artifacts" in our dig-boxes, learn more about ancient pottery by creating pottery of their own (and take it home), see actual artifacts and maps from past digs at The Vann House, and ask questions from real historians and archaeologists. Learn about soil stratigraphy that helps us date artifacts, and more. For updates and scheduled activities, like us on Facebook. "Friends of the Vann House"
