Georgia's First Fourth

Sunday, Aug 3, 2025 (10 AM to 4 PM)

Did you know that the Declaration of Independence did not reach Savannah until August? Come hear the reading of the Declaration as it was read in 1776. Take part in the debate: would you remain loyal to the English King or join the Patriot cause? Programs will be held at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Beginning at Sutler's Row, you will have the opportunity to join the militia, followed by a march to Wormsloe's historic tabby ruins for the reading of the Declaration. Festivities will conclude at the Colonial Life Area with the burning of an effigy of King George III.
Admission: $3.25-$12.00
