Status: Archived This ranger-led hike follows Sweetwater Creek down to and inside the historic five-story Civil War era New Manchester Mill alongside the lovely rapids.This walking tour requires a moderate, one mile hike (total) down to the mill and back. Pre-registration is required. Space will be limited to 9 participants and social distancing will be required.
Sturdy closed-toe shoes are required. Sweetwater Creek is up to 400 feet wide and the rapids are up to class IV. The red trail that this hike follows is the most popular of the 15 miles of trails. Access to the inside of the mill is only permitted on ranger-led hikes.

Take I-20 west from Atlanta, exit #44 at Thornton Road, turn left and go ¼ mile. Turn right on Blairs Bridge Road. After 2 miles, turn left on Mount Vernon Road and proceed to the park.
