Status: Archived Tricentennial Speaker Series #10
Local author and historian, Buddy Sullivan, joins us live for a presentation on the unforgettable Miss Bessie Lewis. Born in 1889 in Ohio, Bessie relocated to Georgia and quickly fell in love with McIntosh County. Her passion for history helped establish Fort King George and bring the area's history to life.
Fort King George is turning 300! To celebrate, we are hosting guest lecturers each month and discussing the fascinating history of our site and town. Buddy Sullivan is a well published author and local tidewater historian. Previously the President for the Lower Altamaha Historical Society, Buddy now conducts tours and lectures spanning centuries of Georgia's history.
These lectures will be available online for free via Zoom and Facebook Live.
This project is supported by Georgia Humanities, in partnership with the Georgia Department of Economic Development, through funding from the Georgia General Assembly.
