The cotton boll weevil arrived to Georgia around 1920 and destroyed cotton crops around the state. In this program learn all about the boll weevil and its affects on Georgia's economy and the efforts that eventually eradicated the bug. Experience sugar cane syrup making the old-fashioned way as we cook cane juice in the original kettles and press sugar cane on the steam powered press. We will also have live bluegrass music, spinning, weaving, blacksmithing, and woodstove cooking and a Civil War encampment commemorating the arrival of General Sherman's federal troops. $3-$10. 478-986-5172.
