Status: Archived Event is full -- Join us as we kayak to Butler Island and view a solar eclipse. This is the first total solar eclipse visible in America in nearly 40 years. From our location, roughly 94% of the sun will be obscured.
The eclipse will begin shortly after we leave Fort King George, and we will arrive on Butler Island in time to rest and gaze at the sky as the sun approaches maximum obscuration. Once the mid-point of the eclipse has passed, we will head back to Fort King George. The eclipse will reach its conclusion as our trip does.
This trip is moderate difficulty, recommended for experienced paddlers only. Please bring water, snacks, and sunscreen. Eye protection will be provided.
