Bank robberies. Gun fights. Moonshine. Jail breaks. Hog Thieves. Murders. An urban hike offered at the Dahlonega Gold Museum State Historic Site introduces visitors to these cases and even more from the annals of Lumpkin County court records.
Guest will begin their tour at the museum, which is housed in the original Lumpkin County courthouse. As the acting courthouse for 129 years, the courtroom saw a wide variety of colorful cases, and a knowledgeable park ranger will share these stories of Lumpkin County’s criminal justice system, and how criminals broke the law and suffered the consequences in this justice system, and how criminals broke the law and suffered the consequences in this north Georgia community.
