Sapelo Island Adventure Weekend at Cabretta Campground

This island adventure includes two nights of camping, crabbing, seine netting, fishing, a bicycle tour, climbing a 200-year-old lighthouse, historic Reynolds Mansion tour, beach combing, birding, welcome campfire with s’mores, and low-country boil. Limited to just 25 guests. Click for details.

Friday, October 14
2:30 PM: Arrive at visitor’s center and purchase ferry ticket
3:30 PM: Ferry departs Meridian Dock
4:00 PM: Arrive on Sapelo Island and load on trailer for trip to Cabretta Campground
4:30 PM: Free time to set up camp and make dinner
7:30 PM: Welcome campfire with s’mores

Saturday, October 15
9:00 AM – 5:00 PM: Seine netting, crabbing and fishing times are tide dependent, beach combing, birding or relax at camp
6:00 PM: Low country boil at group pavilion

Sunday, October 16
8:30 AM: Depart campground for bike tour
9:00 AM: Bike tour of Sapelo’s south end
1:00 PM: Return to campground. Lunch on your own. Break down camp.
2:45 PM: Depart campground for ferry dock
4:00 PM: Ferry departs Sapelo Island
4:01 PM: Start making plans to come back and create your own Island adventures!

Included:
All activities: fishing, crabbing, seine netting, bike tour, lighthouse tour, Reynolds Mansion tour, campfire with s’mores, beach combing, and some of the most beautiful sunsets and sunrises you can witness from the same spot.

Not Included:
Ferry ticket (purchase at visitor’s center upon arrival)
Meals (except low country boil and campfire s’mores)

What to bring:
Camping gear, tent, sleeping bag, pad, flashlight, food for meals and snacks, refillable water bottle, sunscreen, bug spray, clothing suitable for weather changes and entering water, plus an adventurous attitude.

Cabretta Campground Amenities:
Bath house with hot showers and flush toilets, outdoor hot showers, outdoor sink/dish cleaning area, potable water, group picnic shelter w/electricity and charcoal grills, group fire ring, many Live Oak-shaded tent spots, 3 Adirondack shelters with fire rings and picnic table (additional fee, optional), direct beach access only steps away.
