On New Year’s Day, Georgia State Parks and Historic Sites will once again kick off the New Year with the statewide First Day Hike tradition! Two unique hikes will be offered at Amicalola Falls State Park, starting at 9:30am and 12:00pm. A Birds of Prey Show at 11am in the Arch Room of Visitor's Center caps off this great day. All ages welcome!
Join our Interpretive Ranger in the Visitor's Center to begin your 1.5 mi round-trip hike up the famous the Appalachian Approach Trail! Test your endurance as you climb along-side Little Amicalola Creek and enjoy Georgia's tallest waterfall and stunning Blue Ridge Mountain views. On the way, learn about Amicalola's natural history, human history, and bring your new years' resolution (or make one with us!).
At 11:00am, find Blue Ridge Raptors in the Visitor Centers Arch Room for a Birds of Prey show!
Please plan for chilly weather and bring water!
