The Civilian Conservation Corps began construction of Hard Labor Creek in 1934, and finished their work here in 1939. They left behind the camp they lived and worked in, in which some buildings still stand today. Join a ranger on this wagon ride and history walk through what remains of Georgia's only standing CCC Camp.
This program consists of a wagon ride and a short walking tour around a historical CCC camp. Participants should wear weather appropriate clothing and closed-toed shoes. Please wear sunscreen and bug repellant. Please also bring water.
The wagon will depart from our beach area, travel to the CCC camp, and then return to the beach area. The wagon will not wait for tardy attendees.
This program is pre-registration only. Please call the park office to register. Each wagon ride lasts 1 hour, and there are two wagon ride times to choose from within this program.
