Bumble Bee Atlas Field Day:

Sunday, Aug 24, 2025 (10 AM to 12:30 PM)

Learn about the Southeast Bumble Bee Atlas project and contribute to conservation! Practice catching, photographing, and identifying bumble bees. You will learn more about the project and how you can participate with just a net and a camera.   Meet at the Sandpiper Trail.

Anyone with an interest in bees and a desire to help them in a hands-on way is encouraged to attend—no prior experience needed! Nets provided.

Our community science project has led to 4500 observations of bumble bees including 3 threatened and endangered species.

Expect to be outdoors 2 - 2.5 hours. Dress appropriately and be prepared for warm weather. Bring and drink plenty of water.

Please pre-register for the event: https://lp.constantcontactpages.com/ev/reg/w8a2cu5

Bumble bees are very important pollinators that help provide us with the food we eat, the flowers we love to see, and create habitat for other wildlife as well. There are 16 species of bumble bees in Georgia ranging from common to rare.
