Join us in learning all about rock and mineral identification and the importance of preserving our state parks and historic sites. After a presentation on mineral identification, we will embark on a ranger-led hike into different areas of the site to discuss the lay of the land, nature's impact, and the effects of human development over the years.
The hike portion of this program will begin on the red and blue trail, then connect onto the purple trail via the red trail, and loop back to the visitor center via the red, white, and blue trail. This is an overall moderate-to-strenuous hike with some inclines.

Located Take I-20 exit #44. Turn onto Thornton Road. (Highway 278) Follow Highway 278 West for 10 miles. Make a right onto Highway 92. Travel North on Highway 92 for approximately 6 miles. Look for brown Pickett's Mill signs as you continue. Turn left onto Due West Road. Continue 2 miles. Turn right onto Mount Tabor Church Road. Travel half a mile and the site on the right.
