Night Hike and Scorpion Hunt

We're heading into the night to learn about the things that we can't normally see. We'll hunt for scorpions by using UV lights, listen for owls, and watch the stars. We will meet at the Trading Post (Visitor Center) to walk along an easy/moderate 1 mile trail. Please bring a flashlight and wear sturdy shoes. Call to register in advance. $3 plus $5 parking. 706-557-3001.

Fishing with a Ranger

Enjoy this exciting event as you learn fishing basics such as fish identification, types of tackle used, and different kinds of bait. Then go fishing with a park ranger on the lake banks. Fishing gear is provided or you can bring your own. Limited to 10 participants ages 7 - 15. Register in advance. Meet at the visitor center. $5 plus $5 parking. 706-557-3001.
Almost Full Moon Paddle

Hard Labor Creek State Park - Rutledge, GA
Enjoy a naturalist-led paddle on Lake Rutledge as the waxing gibbous moon reflects off the water. Space is limited, so register in advance. No pets; kids must be 8 or older and with an adult. Meet at the kayak rack near the beach area. Bring a flash light, quick drying pants, and water. $10 with your own kayak, $15 with rental kayak $5 parking. 706-557-3001.

Come on out and help Friends of Hard Labor Creek SP plant the flower beds in our brand new butterfly garden. After lunch, stick around for wagon rides (free to volunteers) and the tagging and releasing of Monarch butterflies! Meet at Picnic shelter 2. Bring gloves, and hand trowels. Observatory Open House
