Pan de Muerto “Bread of the Dead” is an embodiment of Dia de los Muertos, celebrating death as a continuation of connection and memory. Join us in making Pan de Muerto along with a fire building and hot chocolate demonstration. Bring your favorite mug or a mug passed down in your family to celebrate.
During this auspicious time, Pan de Muerto is eaten and used as an offering in remembrance of passed loved ones. The breads shape and design hold symbolic intention. It’s circular/dome shape represents the cyclic nature of life and death. The bones draped on top represent the cardinal directions and elemental forces. The central knob\ball symbolizes the skull and heart. The sugar coating symbolizes the sweetness of life and memories. The orange flavor is linked to honoring and guiding our loved ones to us.
