On New Year’s Day, Georgia State Parks and Historic Sites will once again kick off the New Year with the statewide First Day Hike tradition! Two unique hikes will be offered at Amicalola Falls, starting at 9:30am and 12:30pm. A Birds of Prey Show at 11:30am in the Arch Room of the Visitor's Center caps off this great day. All ages welcome!
editJoin our Interpretive Ranger in the Visitor's Center to begin your hike up the famous Appalachian Approach Trail! Test your endurance as you climb along-side Little Amicalola Creek and enjoy Georgia's tallest waterfall and stunning Blue Ridge Mountain views. On the way, learn about Amicalola's natural history, human history, and bring your new years' resolution (or make one with us!).
Two hikes will be offered; 9:30AM will be a longer hike to the middle of the falls, with 12:30PM being a shorter, less strenuous hike to the base of the falls.
At 11:30am, join us for a Birds of Prey Show in the Visitor's Center Arch Room!
Please plan for chilly weather and bring water!
