Junior Ranger Camp Two Days

Mistletoe State Park - Appling, GA
Day 1 McDuffie Education Center will provide children with a fishing experience. All fishing gear will be provided. After lunch Junior Rangers will participate in Archery, Learn about the Peregrine Falcone and play water games. Day 2 Junior Rangers will be hiking, camp cooking, Learn about Reptiles and Mammals and partake in some kayak fun. $100 plus $5 parking. 706-541-0321.

Kayaking from the Campgrounds

Sweetwater Creek State Park - Lithia Springs, GA
This kayaking program is exclusive to folks staying in the camp grounds. Are you needing to kill some time before check in? Sign up for our kayaking program, which will depart from our campgrounds onto the reservoir, all equipment provided. 30 plus $5 parking. 770-732-2613.

Have you ever wondered what people ate before grocery stores? Or how they made baskets from pine needles? Join a ranger to learn how the plants around us have been used historically, both for food and for survival crafts. You'll learn the basics of plant identification, plant safety, and plant uses on a paddle around Lake Rutledge. Meet the Naturalist at the Park office; for a crash course in Kayaking. We'll be going over basic strokes, maneuvers, as well as Paddling Safety.
