Loop Around the Lake

Fort Yargo State Park - Winder, GA
Come join us every Saturday for a brisk, seven-mile guided group jaunt around the lake on our inner-loop (yellow trail). Bring provisions, this intermediate-level challenge is for experienced hikers. A Walk Through History: CCC Wagon Rides And Camp Tour

Hard Labor Creek State Park - Rutledge, GA
The Civilian Conservation Corps began construction of Hard Labor Creek in 1934, and finished their work here in 1939. They left behind the camp they lived and worked in, in which some buildings still stand today. Join a ranger on this wagon ride and history walk through what remains of Georgia's only standing CCC Camp. $5 plus $5 parking. 706-557-3001.

Twilight Kayak Tour

Hard Labor Creek State Park - Rutledge, GA
Explore Lake Rutledge as we scan the sky and woods looking for wildlife. Watch the changing colors on the water as the sun sets. We'll paddle to the spot we've found Bold Eagles mating and talk about their ecological importance. Bring water, bug spray and a change of clothes (optional). Wild Georgia's Tri-Colored Bat Craft & Learn

High Falls State Park - Jackson, GA
Learn about our local proposed endangered bat and make a cute one to take home. Also learn how you can participate in the State Wildlife Action Plan review and receive a stamp on your "Wild Georgia: A Plan for Tomorrow" bookmark. Two stamps before December earns a Wild Georgia sticker and four stamps earns a deck of playing cards. $3 plus $5 parking. 478-993-3053.

Sunset Paddle

Come enjoy an evening paddle with Rangers to watch the sunset on the Lower Lake. Participants will learn about some history of the park and local wildlife that comes out at night. Gopher It! Gopher Tortoise Educational Hike
